FİXA® FLEX Granite Tile Adhesive – Professional Application Guide
Product Description
FİXA® FLEX Granite Tile Adhesive is a polymer-modified, cement-based adhesive developed for projects requiring high flexibility, strong adhesion, and extended working time in large-format ceramic tile and natural stone applications. Its non-slip formula provides stable application on both vertical and horizontal surfaces.
Key Features
- Cement-based, single-component
- Polymer-modified, flexible structure
- C2TE class high adhesion strength
- Non-slip performance for safe vertical applications
- Extended working time (~2.5 hours)
- Resistant to temperature fluctuations (-30°C / +80°C)
- Optimized for granite, marble, and large-format coverings
Areas of Use
- Indoor and outdoor applications
- Horizontal and vertical surfaces
- Granite, porcelain granite, marble, clinker, and natural stone coverings
- High-traffic areas such as shopping malls, hospitals, schools, and business centers
- Underfloor heating systems
- New tile installations over existing coverings
Advantages
- Flexible structure: Accommodates substrate movement and reduces the risk of cracking.
- Extended working time: Mixed mortar remains usable for approximately 2.5 hours.
- Strong adhesion: C2-class bonding performance ensures secure installation of heavy and large-format coverings.
- Non-slip: Prevents tiles from slipping on vertical surfaces.
- Water and frost resistant: Suitable for outdoor applications.
- Temperature resistant: Service temperature range from -30°C to +80°C.
Surface Preparation
- The substrate must be fully cured.
- Remove oil, dust, detergent residues, silicone, paint, and any substances that may impair adhesion.
- Repair damaged surfaces with FİXA repair mortar at least 24 hours before application.
- Cement-based surfaces should be lightly dampened and kept moist.
- Suitable primers should be used on highly absorbent surfaces.
- FİXA waterproofing products should be applied in wet areas.
Mortar Preparation
- 25 kg powder product → 5.5–6.5 L clean water
- Mix with a low-speed mixer until a lump-free consistency is achieved.
- Allow the mixture to rest for 5–10 minutes, then remix.
- Pot life: approximately 2.5 hours.
- Excess water will reduce product performance.
Application Instructions
- Apply a thin contact layer to the substrate first.
- Comb the adhesive using an appropriately sized notched trowel.
- More than 80% of the back surface of the tile should be in contact with the adhesive.
- For large and heavy coverings, the double-bonding (buttering-floating) method is recommended.
- Fix tiles firmly using a rubber mallet.
- Leave appropriate grout joints between coverings.
Consumption
Average: 4–6 kg/m², depending on the application method.
Important Notes
- Do not apply at temperatures below +5°C or above +35°C.
- Do not add excessive water to the mortar.
- Do not apply in areas exposed to freezing conditions.
- Do not add water or powder to mortar that has exceeded its pot life.
