What is Sikadur®-330? | Two-Component Epoxy-Based Impregnation (Lamination) Resin

Sikadur®-330 is a two-component, thixotropic, epoxy-based impregnation (lamination) resin and adhesive developed for professional structural strengthening applications.

Manufactured by Sika, this specialized product is designed for the safe and reliable application of carbon fiber reinforcement systems. It is mainly used for the wetting and impregnation of SikaWrap® carbon fiber fabrics through the dry application method. On suitable surfaces, it can also be used as an adhesive for Sika® CarboDur® carbon fiber plates.

Developed for professional applicators, Sikadur®-330 provides high mechanical strength, long service life, and reliable performance in structural reinforcement projects.

Application Areas

1. Impregnation of Carbon Fiber Fabrics with Dry Application Method

Sikadur®-330 is used to impregnate dry-applied carbon fiber fabrics, creating a high-strength composite reinforcement system.

2. Primer Function in Wet Application Systems

In wet application methods, it can be used as a surface primer to improve bonding performance.

3. Bonding of Carbon Fiber Plates

On smooth mineral surfaces, Sikadur®-330 can function as an adhesive compatible with carbon plate strengthening systems.

Key Advantages

Sikadur®-330 provides several important benefits:

  • Easy mixing and application
  • Convenient processing with trowel and impregnation rollers
  • Ideal for manual impregnation processes
  • Suitable for vertical and overhead applications
  • Provides strong adhesion to various substrates
  • Offers excellent mechanical and physical properties
  • Does not require an additional primer in many applications

These features make Sikadur®-330 a widely preferred lamination resin for FRP structural strengthening applications.

  • +10 °C → approximately 90 minutes
  • +23 °C → approximately 60 minutes
  • +35 °C → approximately 30 minutes

Application Steps

  1. Prepare the surface to ensure it is strong, clean, and has sufficient tensile strength.
  2. Mix Components A and B at low speed.
  3. Continue mixing until a homogeneous grey color is achieved.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a clean container and remix briefly.
  5. Apply the resin using a trowel or roller.
  6. Place the carbon fiber fabric and complete the lamination process using a roller.
  7. Clean tools immediately with a suitable cleaning agent.

Limitations

  • Protect the application from rain for at least 24 hours after installation.
  • The lamination process must be completed within the working time.
  • Low temperatures and high humidity may cause a sticky surface layer.
  • Multi-layer reinforcement systems and creep calculations require engineering evaluation.
