What is Sikadur®-30? | Thixotropic Epoxy Adhesive for Structural Strengthening

Sikadur®-30 is a high-performance structural adhesive developed for professional strengthening applications. It is a two-component, thixotropic epoxy resin system containing special fillers.

Manufactured by Sika, this product can be safely applied between +8 °C and +35 °C and is especially preferred for bonding carbon fiber plates to concrete, brick, and wooden surfaces.

In structural strengthening projects, Sikadur®-30 provides a strong bond between carbon fiber or steel plates and the substrate, ensuring high safety, durability, and long service life.

Application Areas

1. Structural Strengthening Applications

Sikadur®-30 is widely used for:

  • Bonding carbon fiber plates to concrete surfaces
  • Fixing steel plates onto concrete structures
  • Epoxy bonding adhesive for near-surface mounted (NSM) reinforcement systems

2. Reinforcement of Reinforced Concrete Elements

Suitable applications include:

  • Strengthening of beams, columns, slabs, and shear walls
  • Bonding agent in externally bonded reinforcement systems
  • Adhesive solution for NSM strengthening applications

3. Bonding Different Materials

  • Clean
  • Strong
  • Dry
  • Free from dust, oil, and weak particles

Additional requirements:

  • Surface temperature must be at least +3 °C above the dew point.
  • Moisture content should not exceed 4%.

Application Steps

  1. Prepare the surface by removing weak materials and contaminants.
  2. Mix Components A and B at low speed for at least 3 minutes.
  3. Continue mixing until a homogeneous light grey color is achieved.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a clean container and mix again.
  5. Apply the adhesive using a spatula or trowel.
  6. Press and position the carbon fiber or steel plate firmly onto the surface.
  7. Clean tools immediately with a suitable cleaner.
