Application Method

Surface Preparation

Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dust. Oil, dirt, and loose particles should be removed before application. On porous surfaces, the use of a suitable primer is recommended.

Backing Rod

For joint sealing applications, closed-cell polyethylene backing rods should be used.

Application

The cartridge is placed into a suitable sealant gun, and the product is applied as a uniform bead onto the surface. The sealant can be smoothed using a spatula or by hand. Excess material should be removed before curing begins.

Curing

Under conditions of 23 °C and 50% relative humidity, Sikaflex®-112 Crystal Clear cures at approximately 3 mm per 24 hours. Full mechanical strength is generally achieved within 7 days.

Limitations and Important Considerations

• Do not apply below +5 °C.
• Do not use on wet or frozen surfaces.
• Additional protection is recommended for areas exposed to continuous water contact.
• Avoid contact with paint or solvents before complete curing.
