Weber Neutral Silicone – Oxime-Based Neutral-Curing Silicone Sealant
Weber Neutral Silicone
Weber Neutral Silicone is a single-component, oxime-based neutral-curing silicone sealant that provides strong adhesion to both porous and non-porous surfaces. Thanks to its low-modulus, highly elastic formulation and non-corrosive properties, it can be safely used for sealing and joint applications in a wide range of construction projects.
Product Description
Weber Neutral Silicone is a single-component, gun-grade silicone sealant that cures through a neutral oxime-based curing system.
Advantages
- Neutral curing technology prevents corrosion on metal surfaces
- High elasticity and low modulus
- Suitable for vertical surfaces and suspended ceiling applications
- Low odor formulation
Areas of Use
Weber Neutral Silicone is recommended for the following applications:
- Sealing applications for PVC, timber, and aluminum joinery
- Glass installations
- Bonding porous and non-porous materials
- Interior and exterior sealing applications requiring durable waterproofing
Suitable Substrates
- Concrete, precast concrete, fiber-reinforced concrete, and cement boards
- Metal and aluminum
- Brick, ceramic, and marble
- Glass and galvanized steel
- Plastic surfaces
Professional consultation is recommended before application on other substrates.
Surface Preparation
- Joint surfaces must be clean and dry.
- Remove all traces of cement, oil, paint, and adhesive residues.
- Non-porous surfaces should be free from coatings; if necessary, clean with cellulosic thinner.
- Metal surfaces should be treated with an anti-corrosion primer.
- Masking tape may be used to achieve neat and precise joint edges.
Application Conditions
- Surface and ambient temperature: +5°C to +35°C
- Do not apply in excessively hot or humid conditions.
- Do not apply on frozen surfaces or where freezing conditions are expected.
Application Instructions
- Apply the sealant so that it contacts both sides of the joint and the polyethylene backer rod.
- The cartridge nozzle should remain inside the joint while applying a continuous and uniform bead.
- Apply in a single layer; overlapping applications should be avoided.
- Remove trapped air bubbles during finishing.
- The surface may be smoothed using a tool moistened with soapy water.
- Moisture is required for curing; therefore, the product should not be used in airtight environments.
- Clean tools immediately after use with acetone.
Application Tools
Consumption
- Approximately 3 meters per cartridge for a 10 mm × 10 mm joint
Warnings and Recommendations
- Adheres to most construction materials without primer; however, testing is recommended on absorbent, glossy, or painted surfaces.
- Joint width should generally be approximately twice the joint depth.
- The product is not paintable.
- Not suitable for aquarium applications.
