Joint Design and Surface Preparation
Joint Width and Depth
- Joint width must be at least four times the anticipated movement and not less than 4 mm.
Recommended sealant depths:
- Up to 15 mm width: sealant depth = joint width
- 15–25 mm width: sealant depth = 80% of joint width
- Greater than 25 mm width: sealant depth = 25 mm
Surface Preparation
- Joints must be clean, dry, free from oil, and free from old sealant residues.
- Joint edges should be repaired and corners rounded.
- A backer rod or backing material (closed-cell polyethylene foam) should be installed.
Primer Application
- Before applying Weber PU Flow 111, both horizontal and vertical joint surfaces should be primed with weber.prim PU.
Application Conditions
- Surface and ambient temperature: +5°C to +30°C
- Do not apply on damp surfaces, under extremely hot conditions, or where freezing conditions may occur.
Application Procedure
Mixing
- Mix Component A for 2–3 minutes using a low-speed mixer.
- Add Component B and continue mixing for an additional 3–5 minutes.
- Ensure the mixture is homogeneous.
- Avoid entrapping air during mixing.
Sealant Application
- Fill the mixed material into a caulking gun.
- Apply the sealant over the backing material directly into the joint using the nozzle tip.
- Smooth and finish the surface using a spatula.
Cleaning
- Tools and equipment should be cleaned with synthetic thinner before the product hardens.
