Mantolama is an external thermal insulation system applied to building façades. Its main purpose is to reduce heat loss from inside the building and minimize the impact of external temperature changes on indoor spaces. With proper insulation, buildings become more energy-efficient, comfortable, and durable.
In Turkey, a significant portion of energy consumption is spent on heating and cooling. With mantolama systems, this energy usage can be reduced by approximately 40% to 60%. Therefore, it is an important solution both economically and environmentally.
A properly installed insulation system also:
Although it is mainly applied on exterior façades, mantolama can also be used in different building components:
Exterior Façade Insulation The most common application. Insulation boards are installed on the outer surface of the building.
Roof Insulation Roofs are one of the areas with the highest heat loss, making insulation essential.
Basement and Foundation Walls Thermal and moisture insulation is applied to underground structures.
Inverted Roof Systems Used in terrace roofs where waterproofing and thermal insulation are combined.
Interior Wall Insulation Used when exterior insulation is not possible.
Mantolama is widely used in:
The system is installed through several technical stages. Incorrect application may lead to cracks and performance loss over time.
1. Surface Preparation The façade is cleaned and loose materials are removed.
2. Adhesive Application Insulation boards are fixed to the surface using special adhesive mortar.
3. Mechanical Fixing Boards are additionally secured with mechanical anchors (dowels).
4. Base Coat Application A reinforced plaster layer with mesh is applied over the boards.
5. Finishing Coat A decorative exterior coating completes the system.
Main components used in professional systems:
EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) The most commonly used insulation material. Lightweight and cost-effective.
XPS (Extruded Polystyrene) Has higher compressive strength and better moisture resistance.
Rock Wool (Mineral Wool) Offers excellent fire resistance and is commonly used in high-rise buildings.
Glass Wool A fibrous material used for both thermal and acoustic insulation.
Graphite EPS Provides higher thermal performance compared to standard EPS.
The correct material choice depends on building location and project requirements.
Prices vary depending on several factors:

How long does mantolama last? With proper materials and correct application, it can last 25–30 years.
Does mantolama really save energy? Yes. It can reduce energy consumption by 40% to 60%.
What is the best insulation material? It depends on the application. EPS is used for economical projects, while rock wool is preferred for fire safety requirements.
Can insulation be applied in winter? It is recommended between +5°C and +35°C for proper performance.
Can old buildings be insulated? Yes. Existing buildings can be upgraded with external insulation systems.
Mantolama systems improve energy efficiency, making buildings more comfortable and cost-effective.
